Visit to Lithuania: HaDEA's representatives participate in a conference on EU funding opportunities in Vilnius

The event "Unlocking EU Funding Opportunities for Lithuanian Applicants" convened Lithuanian contact and focal points for all EU funding programmes managed by HaDEA, along with representatives from HaDEA and four EU-funded projects. The event proved to be very relevant to the Lithuanian stakeholders, attracting over 100 participants, including representatives of businesses, universities, research entities and public authorities. The programme included 13 presentations and a panel discussion focused on the synergies across EU funding programmes.

Vaiva Priudokienė, Deputy Chair of Research Council of Lithuania, welcomed the participants emphasising that: “Participation in the EU funding programmes managed by HaDEA is not only providing funding opportunities but it also allows Lithuanian researchers, innovators and businesses to be at the forefront of European research and innovation. Our objective is to exchange knowledge in order to address the biggest challenges in the fields of health and digital technologies”.

First session contained keynote presentations from HaDEA. HaDEA’s Director Marina Zanchi opened the conference, stating: “events like these foster synergies between the EU funding programmes, helping stakeholders to join the dots from the different projects where they participate”.

Stéphane Hogan, Jean-François Junger and Hervé Dupuy presented Horizon Europe Cluster 1, EU4Health, Horizon Europe Cluster 4, Digital Europe Programme and CEF Digital programmes. They outlined available funding opportunities and shared tips for preparing EU project proposals.

The “Roundtable discussion on funding” included the representatives of HaDEA, Lithuanian authorities and EU-funded projects. It allowed to exchange views on the opportunities, challenges of managing EU projects and the synergies across different programmes.

The third session showcased the successful Lithuanian EU projects and aimed to inspire potential applicants to submit their proposals.

The last session focused on the support networks and services available to the Lithuanian applicants of EU funding programmes.

The site visits to the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology and the Vilnius University Life Sciences Centre were very useful and provided HaDEA’s representatives with deeper understanding on the realities and challenges faced by R&I entities participating in the EU projects. They had the opportunity to engage directly with researchers involved in Horizon projects, explore their labs, and learn about their innovative technologies and products firsthand.
